(November
14, 2006, PERRIS, CA) Perris
Auto Speedway will close the 2006 season this Saturday night when Temecula
Valley Pipe & Supply presents the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars in the Annual Jack
Kindoll Classic. Saturday’s main
event will be 40 laps. Due the
possibility of extra cars and cold temperatures at night, there will be a change
in times on Saturday. Spectator
gates will open an hour earlier at 4:00 PM with qualifying at 5:15 and racing
starting at 6:30. The PAS will be
hosting a Christmas toy drive for needy children and any adult fan who brings a
new, still in the package toy valued at $10.00 or more will get into
Saturday’s race for just $5.00.
Lincoln,
Indiana’s Dave Darland, who two weeks ago won the Budweiser Oval Nationals for
the second straight season, will be behind the wheel Anne Wilkerson’s #11 on
Saturday. Darland, who finished
third in the 2006 USAC National Sprint Car point standings, placed eighth last
Saturday night at the Western World Championships at Manzanita Speedway in
Phoenix, Arizona.
Saturday’s
race will bring a conclusion to the torrid 2006 USAC/CRA points fight between
Ventura, California’s Cory Kruseman and Damion Gardner of Concord, California.
Heading into the season ender, Kruseman leads his archrival Gardner by
102-points in the standings. Kruseman
was seventh in the Western World Championships last week while Gardner finished
eleventh.
“Saturday
will be a great night,” stated Perris promoter Don Kazarian.
“It has been a great season and the racing has been nothing short of
fantastic. I hate to see it end.
We hope to have a big crowd on hand and we hope they support the toy
drive so some needy children can have a good Christmas.”
Saturday’s
Christmas present from the drivers to the fans will be in your face, clay
slingin’ sideways action for the last time until February 2007.
The program will consist of qualifying, four 10-lap heat races, a B main
and the 40 lap Kindoll Classic A main event.
If necessary, there will be a C main as well.
In
addition to Saturday’s race, there will be drag racing on the popular Strip at
The Pas Street Legal Drag Strip on Friday night.
Gates at the drag strip will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:00.
Last week, more than 100 cars participated in the drag racing action.
