(OCTOBER
3, 2006, PERRIS, CA)
Race and fair fans can “Rev Up the Fun” and see the USAC/CRA Sprint
Cars and enjoy the opening day of the Southern California Fair on one ticket
this Saturday, October 7th. The
racing action will take place on the famed Perris Auto Speedway, which will be
known as the Bud Light Arena during the fair.
Tickets
to the Southern California Fair will be sold at the gate for $8.00 for adults
and $2.00 for children. However,
discount tickets are available through October 6th.
Fans who act now can purchase adult tickets for only $5.00 and
children’s tickets for only $1.00 by going to the Southern California Fair
website at: http://www.socalfair.com/ticket_info.html.
Fans can also order by phone by calling: 1-877-77CLICK.
“It
is a great deal,” said PAS promoter Don Kazarian.
“You can spend the whole day at the fair checking out the rides,
displays & animals and have some fair food.
In the afternoon, there will be a Monster Truck competition and then the
USAC/Sprint Cars that night. You
can get all of that for the price of one ticket.
How can you beat that?”
Fair
fans and regular USAC/CRA fans will get to see the next round in the fight for
the series championship between Ventura, California’s Cory Kruseman and Damion
Gardner of Concord, California. In
what has been one of the hardest fought point championship battles ever in
Southern California, the two rivals have swapped the lead back and forth several
times over the past four months.
To
throw coal on the fire, they have clashed while heading for the checkered flags
at the last two races in the series. Two
weeks ago at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, they got together and both flipped
as they fought for the lead. Last
week at The PAS in an eerily similar set of circumstances, they tangled again as
they crossed under the checkered flag while fighting for fifth.
Fortunately neither of the two archrivals flipped last week and Kruseman
took the fifth spot while Gardner slid into the inside crash wall backwards in
sixth. Kruseman, a two-time Oval
Nationals Champion, came into last weeks show with a three point advantage over
Gardner. Heading into this week’s
race, Gardner has whittled that down to two-points.
While
Gardner and Kruseman have been hammering it out for the title, Norco,
California’s Tony Jones has been the hottest driver at the Riverside County
clay oval this year. Jones led all
30-laps last Saturday to post his fifth win in the last ten races at The PAS.
In addition, it is the first time in the second-generation driver’s
career that he has won five main events in one season.
After
Saturday’s opening day, the Southern California Fair will run through October
15th. Monster Trucks
will be back again on Sunday the 8th.
Nightly entertainment during the week includes Raven on the 9th,
comedian Carrot Top on the 10th, REO Speedwagon on the 11th,
Ronnie Milsap on the 12th and Jeremy Camp on the 13th.
Motorsports returns on Saturday the 14th with a Supercross
Championship race. The final day of
the fair will be the 15th and a pair of Demolition Derbies will
highlight it.
In
addition to the entertainment, the fair will be filled with fun rides,
interesting displays, animals and tasty food.
