(JULY
26, 2006, PERRIS, CA) When
Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply presents the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars at Perris
Auto Speedway on Saturday, August 5th, there will be more to the show
than just racing. On that night The
PAS will be hosting “Shav Glick and Jim Short Night” to honor the recently
retired legendary sportswriters.
Glick,
who worked for the Los Angeles Times for more than 50 years, retired in January.
Short retired from the Riverside Press Enterprise earlier this month.
Both covered motor racing for years and they never forgot about the
weekly action on the short tracks.
“It
is with great pleasure that we honor these two fine gentlemen with a special
night,” stated Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian.
“They have been around and supported racing for decades and they never
forgot the short tracks and the short track drivers.
We appreciate them and everything they have done for short track racing.
We want to keep their names at the forefront like they always did ours.
Therefore, beginning on August 5th, the press box at Perris
Auto Speedway will be known as the “Glick – Short Press Box.”
The
spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM on “Shav Glick and Jim Short Night”
with racing at 7:00. It will be a
special night with Major League Sprint Car Racing on the half-mile clay oval and
two Major League Legends of the media industry being honored for their years of
dedication to racing.
Perris
Auto Speedway is located on the freeway close Lake Perris Fairgrounds, home of
the Southern California Fair, approximately one hour east of Los Angeles and one
hour North of San Diego. To get to
the track, take the 215 freeway, exit on the Ramona Expressway and go two miles
east to the fairgrounds.
