(JULY
18, 2006, PERRIS, CA) After two
weeks off, the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series roars back into action this Saturday
night in a show presented by Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply at Perris Auto
Speedway. The show also marks the
track’s 2nd Annual Skirt Night.
Any adult fan – female or male – who wears a skirt or a dress will
get in for just $5.00 and will get $1.00 hot dogs and $2.00 beers.
Spectator gates open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00.
The
popular series has been off the past couple of week so drivers and teams wishing
to attend the Indiana Sprint Week could do so without losing points on the west
coast. Indiana Sprint Week is a
tough series of seven races packed into nine days.
It began last Thursday at Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon,
Indiana and will wrap up this Friday night at the Terre Haute Action Track.
USAC/CRA
Series point leader Cory Kruseman of Ventura, California and his archrival
Damion Gardner of Concord, California head a small group of USAC/CRA drivers
competing in Indiana Sprint Week. At
the last race at The PAS on July 1st, Kruseman reclaimed the point lead with a
fourth place finish in the main event while Gardner dropped out early in the
main and finished 21st. Heading
into this Saturday’s race, Kruseman leads Gardner by 17-points in the
standings. After Friday night’s
race at Terre Haute, they will both hope on a redeye flight to southern
California for Saturday’s race at The PAS.
While
much of the spotlight has been focused on Kruseman and Gardner this year, Norco,
California’s Tony Jones is having his best season in years driving Mark
Alexander’s silver #4. Heading
into this season, the 36-year old star had not won a main event since October
2003. His career has been reborn in
2006 and he posted his second win of the year when he devastated the field at
The PAS on July 1st. His
rejuvenated form sees him ranked fourth in the 2006 USAC/CRA standings.
Skirt
Night began at The PAS in 2005 on a stock car night and it was huge success.
“Last year when we announced skirt night, we told the fans that any
adults who wore a skirt or a dress would get in for $5.00 and get $1.00 hot dogs
and $2.00 beers,” laughed PAS promoter Don Kazarian.
“We knew we would get a lot of women in skirts, but when we announced
it, we said tongue in cheek that men could qualify for the same discount.
We were shocked when we had quite a few men show up wearing dresses and
skirts. Everybody had a fun time.
It was hilarious! We expect
it to be bigger, better and even more fun this year. “
Saturday’s
night of Major League Sprint Car racing will feature hot laps, qualifying, four
10-lap heat races, a B Main, a 30-lap up side your head A main event and quite a
few homely dudes walking around in dresses.

Saturday
night’s affair on Riverside County’s only clay half-mile oval will be
preceded by Friday’s drag racing action on the Diamond Valley Honda Street
Legal Strip at The PAS Drag Strip. Gates
at the drag strip open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:00.
The drag strip is also located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds.
Perris
Auto Speedway is located on the freeway close Lake Perris Fairgrounds, home of
