(MAY
1, 2006, PERRIS, CA)
With more and more big races being shown live on Saturday night television,
Perris Auto Speedway will have the big screen in the tracks sports bar tuned to
those events throughout the 2006 season.
“We
have had the big screen in the sports bar a few years now showing videos of past
PAS races and a live feed during the actual races,” said PAS promoter Don
Kazarian. “We were not wired for
satellite television, but a lot of fans have asked us to show the live races so
they can watch them before our races start.
We have listened to what they said and they can now watch those races
with friends at The PAS.”
In
addition to fans at the track wanting to watch it, tracks notice a drop in
attendance when there is a live race on TV.
“Our attendance takes a hit when the live races are on TV,” Kazarian
said with a shrug. “And, NASCAR
Nextel Cup is on the next three Saturday nights in a row!”
In
addition to racing, there is another huge shadow looming on the horizon.
“The NFL is going to have more Saturday night televised games.
We will put on the races and if they are not on, we will put on what our
fans want to see before our show starts. We
will also have the new “USAC Thunder” shows on for all of our open wheel
fans.”
Fans
wanting to double dip can do so this Saturday night, May 6th, with the Nextel
Cup race from Richmond on TV followed by the Art’s Concrete Pumping Extreme
Topless Late Models, MC Builders Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Sport Compacts and
Pick-A-Part Cruisers on the west coast’s premiere dirt oval.
Perris
Auto Speedway is located on the freeway close Lake Perris Fairgrounds
approximately one hour east of Los Angeles and one hour North of San Diego.
To get to the track, take the 215 freeway, exit on the Ramona Expressway
and go two miles east to the fairgrounds.
Saturday’s
race on the only half-mile clay oval in Riverside County will be preceded by
Friday’s drag racing action on the Diamond Valley Honda Street Legal Drag
Strip. The drag strip is also
located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds. Anyone
with a valid driver’s license, registration and helmet is eligible to race at
the drag strip. Gates at the drag
strip open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:00 PM.
