Henderson, KY. August 20,
2006. Another night of firsts await all as an exciting
season of Hoosier Tire MSCS Sprint Car racing continues with the next event scheduled
at Bloomington Speedway on August 25th.
This date will be the first ever visit by MSCS. Add extreme to standing tradition and the result is racing chemistry. The night’s feature winner will pick up a check for two and a half grand after the 35 lap all-out championship race.
Bloomington Speedway Promoter Mike Miles always keeps the quarter mile facility
in tip top shape. The gleaming red clay is a fast surface and the track is one of Mid-
American’s most exciting race bowls. It remains an unfenced open course with wide
open, unending turns that present an exceptional speed plant.
This will be the first time this season that the MSCS drivers will encounter a sprint car
driver’s stronghold. MSCS has a history of running at tracks that offer special events or
at tracks where sprints are not usually on the card. At Bloomington sprints are featured
weekly throughout the summer.
The MSCS series regulars however can always bank on having crews able to find the
correct set up quickly when a new or strange track appears on the schedule. That
comes with the ability to react to the changing scenes as these teams tour the region.
And it is no secret that Bloomington regulars frequent MSCS shows each racing
season. So round 10 on the 2006 schedule will actually permit local Bloomington
racers a grand or 2 ½ grand opportunity to register MSCS points and monies closer to
home base. These drivers are likely favorites. They already know the quick way to encircle this fabled flying saucer of a race track.
Competitors running with MSCS this season include current points leader and two
time MSCS Champion Alex Shanks, season long challenger Hud Cone, the closer and
closer Kyle Cummins, veteran campaigner Jerry Ruble, 15 year old Chris Windom,
round 9 feature winner Kyle Wissmiller, Engler Machine and Tool Rookie leader Jeff
Davis, Chase ”Make it a Race” Stockon, lead footed Donny Brackett, and the ever
present Dale Christian who just slipped into this top ten in points.
MSCS has shown an average car count of 37 per event. The second ten in points is an
equally talented group of drivers. Most would be higher in points with an additional
appearance or two. In 7 features held by MSCS so far, 5 different drivers have won features. Only Daron Clayton and Kevin Briscoe have repeats in the win column. They are both just outside the top ten in MSCS points. Both have already won feature races at Bloomington Speedway this very season.
The race of races in Indiana in August is at hand. Do not miss this one! It promises
to be no less than the MSCS Red Clay Championship in the Valley of Opportunity!
