 Press Release

MSCS on Radio Goes Racing
by Eldon Butcher

Henderson, KY  (July 21, 2006).  Hoosier Tire MSCS Series Director, veteran racing announcer and broadcaster Barry Boone will be traveling back to his hometown of Owensboro, KY, to make an encore appearance on local talk radio.  The weekly program is broadcast every Monday evening at 93.9 on WKTG FM.  Listeners know to tune in to:  “Radio Goes Racing” after each weekend during the season.

“Radio Goes Racing” moderators are Billy Eggler and Jay Velotta.  This duo of race commentators currently announce at the Western Kentucky Speedway at Nebo where they highly entertain and inform the crowd.  The guest appearance by Barry Boone follows last week’s invitation to join the program to pump the upcoming August 5th  Hoosier MSCS race at Western Kentucky Speedway.  Billy and Jay have already been working to enlighten race fans about MSCS and rekindle the spirit for sprint car racing in the Bluegrass State.

That one and only MSCS 2006 race in Kentucky will in fact be the Kentucky Sprint Championship.  It will be one exciting 30 lap A-main with a big title looming!  One MSCS competitor will already be a champion midway through the season’s fourteen race dates with the conclusion of the race at Nebo.  The sale of one time driver permits to incoming racers opens this opportunity to any driver who shows up and runs by the rules and regulations set forth by MSCS.  The feature pays $1500 to win.

Sprints have never raced on this 3/8 mile speedway which was built and then operated by the Coble family.  Promoter Tim Coble is enthusiastic about the upcoming MSCS stop and is also scheduled to be at the live radio program Monday night.  Western Kentucky Speedway has already hosted two gigantic late model shows this season.  Dirt Motorsports has played to a full house twice with the WoO Late Models and then the UMP Summer National Late Model tour.

Longtime MSCS fans will recall that Donnie Gentry captured the inaugural MSCS Series driving title back in 2001.  Gentry is from Henderson, KY and one of a half dozen family members who race or field sprint cars.  This southern most MSCS race on this year’s schedule should draw a talented field of drivers.  The track’s actual location could produce some unique chemistry if some of the sprint car racing teams with a southern orientation take advantage of this opportunity to take on the top MSCS regulars.

Be sure to tune in if you live in or are passing through the listening area Monday night.  “Radio Goes Racing” is also available to those with broadband service at wktg.com.  The program lasts from 7 to 8 o’clock Owensboro time.  MSCS is sure to be a hot topic!
