Henderson,
KY. (July 20, 2006).
The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series has secured three additional
races in an effort to enhance and complete the balance of the changing 2006
racing schedule. Hoosier Tire MSCS
drivers will now have the opportunity to race three more times yet this season
at facilities brand new to the schedule. With
the addition of these dates, eight exciting events now remain.
MSCS will now be racing at Mt Vernon Raceway, Inc., in Illinois on
September 9th. A 30-lap
feature is planned for Saturday night paying $1500 to win with a rain date the
next day on Sunday the 10th if needed.
Race promoter Rick Heck and MSCS Race Director Barry Boone have agreed
that this all important first time visit by MSCS sprinters will be billed as the
PEPSI/MSCS Illinois Sprint Championship.
Boone emphasizes the importance of this date.
“It is with great pride that we are able to introduce this all
important track and date to the revised schedule.
We have so many drivers and fans from the state of Illinois.”
MSCS has secured a virtually neutral site for points’ chasers as the
season hits the last quarter. It
should be a Barnstormer’s Delight to race on this quick quarter mile oval.
Rick heck in discussions with MSCS indicated, “It has been about 7
years since sprint cars have appeared at Mt. Vernon.”
He also reminds owners and drivers that mufflers are required at the
raceway. Mt. Vernon Raceway is
located on Wells By-pass Road along and visible from Interstate 57.
The 2006 Hoosier Tire MSCS season is now set to close with a mammoth
weekend of racing on September 29th and 30th in
Southeastern Indiana. A huge
two-day event has been contracted with the Legendary Lawrenceburg Speedway.
Friday night’s show is a complete race program concluding with a 30-lap
feature paying $2,000 to win. Saturday is even bigger!
It should prove to be the “Grand Slam Race” of the MSCS season. Make that 10 Grand Slams!
Saturday night the 30th, Lawrenceburg promoter Tom Wieck is
putting up a purse with a winner’s share of $10,000.
“Extreme will take on Legendary” and a new era will be launched.
The entire weekend encompasses the SK Construction Lawrenceburg Fall
Classic Sprint Nationals. In
addition the “Burg is offering an added bonus of $1,000 to any driver that can
win both Friday and Saturday night’s A-mains.
MSCS Series Director Barry Boone sees this as a perfect opportunity to
showcase sprint car racing MSCS style. “What
an opportunity this is for MSCS to headline the 2006 SK Construction
Lawrenceburg Fall Classic “Sprint” Nationals.
Now we not only have the Hoosier Sprint Nationals paying 10 grand at mid
season, we now also have the Fall Classic Sprint Nationals at Lawrenceburg
offering another 10 grand to MSCS drivers.
These two 50 lappers with National’s status should electrify the
interest of drivers and fans all across the Midwest.
What a great balance this gives to the MSCS schedule.
In addition it now looks like the MSCS National champion will also be
crowned at Lawrenceburg.”
The weather has been factored out in the advance planning.
Saturday’s Fall Classic “Sprint” Nationals has been rain-dated for
Sunday October 1st with racing beginning at 4 o’clock P.M.
