Henderson,
KY. Jan. 13, 2006. The Midwest Sprint Car Series is releasing
the Official Provisional Driver List for the 2006 season. The complete list
of 12 drivers was provided to us by Sam Stockon, the 2005 Competition Director
for MSCS. According to established MSCS Rules the list is made up of the
top 12 drivers in points from
each previous season.
Two provisional starting spots are awarded to each
driver on this list . Once the feature lineup has been set for each program,
officials will offer an additional provisional starting spot to elligible
drivers on this list. MSCS will begin with the top driver on the list not
in the field and continue on down the list contacting the drivers who failed to
make the feature through the preliminary heats or B-main.
A driver may accept or decline the provisional.
If a driver declines the next highest driver is contacted. Drivers
declining provisional offers may save that provisional for use at a later date,
but all drivers on the list are limited to just two per season.
MSCS Drivers do not qualify but draw for positions and
race their way into the main event. Large car counts, strong fields to
work through, unexpected mechanical woes, unfamiliar tracks, changing track
conditions, and hard luck can combine to cause drivers problems on a particular
night.
The MSCS Provisional Program rewards drivers
loyal to the series while assuring fans every opportunity to see the best
drivers in action. A top driver could be starting at the tail of the
feature with the promise of advancing through the field adding to the overall
competition. And drivers once again pursuing valuable national points have
two added chances to avoid shutout point nights.
The 2006 MSCS Provisional List includes in order:
1) Alex SHANKS, 2) Jerry RUBLE, 3) Chase STOCKON, 4) Gary HAYDEN, 5) Dale
CHRISTIAN, 6) Daron CLAYTON, 7) Mitch WISSMILLER, 8) Travis THOMPSON, 9) Terry
BABB, 10) Mat NEELY, 11) Kevin BRISCOE, and 12) Brady SHORT.
MSCS is committed to continue to offer this PROVISIONAL
DRIVER PROGRAM and other types of innovative programs as an incentive to the
racer. Race Fans, Track Operators, and Sponsors also benefit
from such positive steps! MSCS Founder Sam Stockon sees it as " a big
bonus MSCS has for the regular drivers."
