March 21, 2006 - Greencastle,
Indiana….Lincoln Park Speedway is going to host a “2006 Season
Preview” on Saturday April 1st from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the
Greencastle, Indiana Wal-Mart.
Sprint
Cars, Modifieds, Super Stocks and Bombers will be on display. Several race
drivers will be signing autographs. This event is part of the Lincoln Park
Speedway become more “fan friendly.”
Autograph
sessions, speedway school bus rides and a season ending bonfire fan appreciation
race party are among the activities planned for the 2006 season. Fireworks, demo
derby’s, a roll over contest and fireworks will all be a part of the fun
during the season.
The
first ever “Fastor Pastor” school bus race in 2005 was very successful with
six area churches participating. The church youth groups sold tickets for a
fundraiser, painted the buses and had one of their Pastors race the bus in a
10-lap event. Canned goods were also collected and given to the local food
pantry.
School
bus races are on the schedule five times during the season. Along with churches
Pastors racing, business are encouraged to have company nights and race the
buses against other companies.
2006
will be the 38th consecutive season of racing at the Lincoln Park
Speedway. The Speedway has always had a positive economic impact on Putnam
County Indiana. The Speedway wants to become more involved in offering fund
raising opportunities to local not-for-profit groups.
Youth
groups, churches, 4-H or any positive not-for-profit group is welcome to
participate in the Speedway programs. In addition to helping charity groups, the
Speedway is hosting “Salute to Greencastle Night” on June 3rd.
“Salute to Cloverdale Night” on August 19th and “Salute to
Brazil Night” on August 26th.
The
local citizens with those addresses will receive a $2 discount on the selected
nights. Local businesses in those communities are being offered display areas to
show their wares at the events.
