15 YEAR OLD BRENT BEAUCHAMP KING OF THE COWBOYS AT LAWRENCEBURG SPEEDWAY by Mike O’Leary |

July 15, 2006....On a rough and tumble track, 15 year old Brent
Beauchamp proved that he could ride with the best of 'em, topping the field at
the Lawrenceburg Speedway in a wild shoot out on the 1/4 mile bullring.
Beauchamp, who finished second in heat race action, started the pole of the
Feature event. The #11 of Beauchamp jumped out to the early lead,
besting the field in the first 9 laps of the showdown. Cushion
rider, #77 Jason Knoke, would look to spoil the youngster's night, taking over
the lead on lap 10. However, veteran Knoke would make contact with a
lapped car on the next circuit, ultimately being forced into the pits with
damage, allowing Beauchamp to reclaim the top spot on lap 12.
Beauchamp would hustle his mount through traffic with ease, but long time
Sprint Car competitor, #49 Troy Link, would make his charge on the topside.
Link, with momentum on his side, would make several runs on Beauchamp, nearly
snatching Beauchamp's lead position. However, Beauchamp would not be
intimidated by the driver with decades of experience, holding off the
#49 of Link, bringing home The Checkered for the second time this season.
In a strange twist of events, Link, who was hot on the tail of the youngster
coming off the 4th corner on the last lap, would not be able to boast a 2nd
place finish, as he would flip his #49 machine only feet from the flag stand.
Inheriting 2nd was the #5J of Joss Moffatt, with #17B Brett Burdette, #3T Tony
Beaber and #3x Derek Franks, rounding out the top 5.
Sprint Cars will return to The Lawrenceburg Speedway on Thursday July 20th for
the action packed excitement of The United States Auto Club's Indiana Sprint
Week/Robbie Stanley Memorial Event. Fans are welcome to come early and
take advantage of Lawrenceburg's ample Fairground parking and camping
