PETTY
DOMINATES SPRINT CAR FIELD AT LAWRENCEBURG SPEEDWAY |

June 4, 2006....Brandon Petty, The Lawrenceburg Speedway 2005 Sprint
Car Track Champion, put the Jeff Walker owned #11X in Victory Lane at The
Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday night, fighting off the relentless ambush
for the lead of #53 Jon Stanbrough. Rounding out the top 5 were the hard
charging, #11 Brent Beauchamp, #54 Matt Westfall and #3T, Tony Beaber.
Petty made his presence known early on, coming from the tail of his heat to
capture the preliminary victory. Skill would combine with luck, with
Petty pulling the pole starting position in the redraw. Petty would go
on to parlay that into leading every lap of the Feature Event.
Second place finisher, Jon Stanbrough, would put himself in contention after
starting in the 3rd row of the Feature event. Stanbrough, in The Fox
Brothers owned #53, would use every part of the race track to move forward,
ultimately overtaking cushion rider, #9S Derek Scheffel, and the #3T of Tony
Beaber, to fall into the 2nd position on lap 11. Two late race yellows allowed
Stanbrough to line up on Petty's bumper, but Stanbrough was unable to overtake
the high flying Petty, and would have to settle for runner-up.
Third place finisher, 15 year old Brent Beauchamp, would put on the show of
the night. After struggling in the heat race, narrowly capturing the
final transfer position, Beauchamp would be relegated to starting in the 14th
spot on the grid. Beauchamp would acquire 3 positions on the first lap
alone, then would continue to pick off 2 and 3 more spots a lap,
until he would settle himself into 3rd place on lap 15. The youngster
would go on to pose a real threat to the veteran Stanbrough's 2nd place run,
though The Silent Gasser would hold on. Beauchamp would be rewarded for
his efforts, with a $100 bonus given to him for being the hard charger of the
Feature Event.
