HANFORD, CA - August 9, 2006...Hanford’s (CA) Kings Speedway, one of the premier dirt racetracks in California’s Central Valley, comes to life once again (Saturday, August 12) under the new management of ABI Motorsports, LLC., one year to the month of its shuttering in 2005. ABI’s Frank Dias has signed a long-term contract with the Kings County Fair Board and will present nine events this year and a full schedule in 2007.
SCRA, the non-winged 360 c.i. Sprint Car group has the great honor of headlining the reopening of the popular facility. Known as the “Wingless Warriors,” with there “back ‘um in” style of racing through the turns, SCRA will run five times this season (including the Dirt Nationals” and use the “King of Dirt Tracks” as their home facility next year.
Heading the list of young, talented drivers is Chad Boespflug, the teenage “Hanford Hornet,” who captured the 2005 SCRA championship. Boespflug will battle current point leader Jonathan Logan, Rusty Carlile, who trails Logan by a mere 12 points, Richard Harvey Jr., Andy Ferris and Steven Williams, who narrowly lost the championship last year to Bosepflug. Upwards of 30 cars are expected to compete for the honor of winning the inaugural event including several entries from VRA, Ventura Raceway Association’s popular sprint group.
Supporting SCRA will the IMCA Modifieds, with their door handle to door handle style of racing, along with the exciting Dwarf Cars, whose little cars present “big” racing for the fans.
