February 1, 2006...John Padjen
Motorsports is proud to announce the addition of transponder-based automatic
timing and scoring at Silver Dollar Speedway for the 2006 season.
“We are excited to bring some new technology into the racing at Silver
Dollar Speedway,” said promoter John Padjen.
“We have also started the process of getting Placerville Speedway ready
to for their own system. You can
expect Placerville to have automatic timing and scoring in the near future.”
The
system has already been purchased and will be ready to go for the year’s first
race, the Mini Gold Cup, March 10 and 11. All
divisions will be required to either rent or purchase their own transponder.
Transponders will be available for rent at Silver Dollar Speedway for
$25.00 a night.
If
you wish to purchase a transponder you can go directly through John Padjen
Motorsports and save over $30.00 off the list, website price.
A transponder with charger will cost $333.00 while the hard-wired battery
based transponder will cost $302.00 from John Padjen Motorsports.
Direct pricing from the manufacture will cost $365.00 for
charger/transponder and the hard-wired battery based transponder will cost
$325.00.
“I
think that transponders are the way to go,” said Chico sprint car driver Eddy
Lewis. “When they are in place at
the Outlaw shows it just seems to make the event run smoother.”
Sprint car veteran Andy Forsberg also summed up Lewis’ thoughts,
“With the automatic timing I see no reason why anyone can dispute their spot
on the track. Now we can let the
officials do their jobs and get us lined back up according to the computer so we
can get back to racing sooner.”
The
timing and scoring system eliminates arguments over inaccurate hand-scored
results, while providing racers with race data such as individual lap times, lap
charts and a history of their results. Since the system is simple to setup and
operate, only one or two scorers are needed to manage the scoring for the entire
night’s races. The system keeps track of results live during the race, which
can be sent simultaneously to scoreboards, TV crews and monitors in the pits.
