WISE, HUNT & KAPLAN SECURE FINAL EARL’S TITLES |

November 27, 2006...Josh Wise, Tony Hunt and Ryan Kaplan locked up the final 2006 Earl’s Fast Qualifier Championships in racing action Thanksgiving night at Irwindale, Calif. They join previously crowned Earl’s champions who will be honored Jan. 19 at the USAC “Night of Champions” in Indianapolis. They include Bud Kaeding, Damion Gardner, Tate Martz, James Robertson, Michael Faccinto, Chase Scott and Ryan Smith. Kody Swanson led qualifying for both the Irwindale Sprint and Midget activity on the track’s 1/2-mile paved oval. Wise and Smith each grabbed a pair of Earl’s titles, Wise taking the National Sprint and National Midget and Smith the Northeast and Florida Ford Focus. Points were awarded at each USAC event based on an international system awarding the top-six qualifiers with points in the following scale: 1st-9, 2nd-6, 3rd-4, 4th-3, 5th-2, 6th-1. When qualifying is not held for Ford Focus events, points are awarded based on a system of lineup points earned in the preliminary heats. The Silver Crown FQ champ will receive $5,000, while National Sprint and Midget and Western Sprint and Midget and USAC/CRA FQ champs will receive $3,000 each.
