October 9, 2006 –
Only nine points separate Damion Gardner and Cory Kruseman in their continuing battle for the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Championship. The series resumes Oct. 21 at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.
Danny Sheridan of Santa Maria, Calif. finally found his way to the winners circle for the first time in his USAC/CRA career Saturday, winning the 30-lap feature at Perris in his Kittle Motorsports/Red Line Oil Stinger. Mike Spencer, Gardner, Jason York and fast qualifier Tony Jones rounded out the “top-five” at the checkered flag.
Kruseman finished sixth in the 30-lap race after he and Gardner took the feature green flag in a tie for the point lead.
Saturday’s race saw three leaders, including Ronnie Case on lap one and Kruseman for the next four laps. Sheridan then paced the final 25 circuits for the win.
