June 26, 2006 –
Damion Gardner of Concord, Calif. returns to Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway this Saturday night as the only driver so far to repeat as a winner in the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series this season at the 1/2-mile dirt oval.
Gardner posted his 12th fast qualifying time of the year, then passed Mike Kirby on lap three and set sail. Gardner becomes the first driver in nine Perris races this year to win twice. Rip Williams finished second ahead of Mike Spencer, Kirby and Cory Kruseman.
Kruseman’s finish kept him within 17 points of Gardner, the defending series champion and current point leader, in the 2006 standings. Kruseman is among the other seven drivers who have tasted victory at The PAS.
Danny Sheridan and David Cardey will reload Saturday to try to join the 2006 Perris winner’s list. They are the only two drivers in the “top-10” in standings without a win there so far this season.
