SATURDAY’S RACE AT PAS LOOMS LARGE FOR CRA CONTENDERS
KRUSEMAN TAKES VENTURA 30-LAPPER
|
June 6, 2006 –
This Saturday night’s 30-lap race at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway could prove pivotal in the battle for the 2006 USAC/CRA Sprint Car series title. Defending champion Damion Gardner holds a 30-point lead over Cory Kruseman entering the race but either could end up in victory lane.
Kruseman recorded a hometown victory Saturday night at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway, leading the last 14 laps in his ITI Performance/Sander Engineering Bullet/Downing. Danny Sheridan led the first 16 laps of the race.
Gardner finished second ahead of Mike Kirby, Tony Jones and Blake Miller but the big surprise of the night came during qualifying when Gardner failed for only the second time this season to post the quickest time. He ranked fourth behind Jimmy Crawford!
