Burnettsville, Ind., March 1, 2006 – Adam James
Byrkett, 20, of Burnettsville, named 2002 Rookie of the Year and second place
finisher in 2004, both in the Midget division at the US 24 Speedway track in
Logansport, begins his sixth racing season this year. He’s moved to the Sprint

Born to racing, Byrkett is the son of 30-year driver Dale
Byrkett, well-known on the Micro Midget, Midget and Winged Outlaw Midget
circuits. The younger Byrkett is a graduate of Twin Lakes High School in
Monticello and has worked at Caterpillar in Lafayette since 2004.
Last season, he briefly debuted the new Sprint car at
Paragon and Kokomo, where he qualified to run a feature, placing 16th.
As a Midget driver, he ran a 600 Outlaw Winged Midget, a
Sawyer with Yamaha motor, for four years, beginning in 2001 at age 15.
Career highlights of the rising racing star also include
being named 2004 Most Improved Driver at Logansport, where he won two features,
several trophy dashes and heat races. And he earned a Driver of the Week award
in 2003 at the Logansport track.
