The Southwest Sprint Car Series has added another feature to the program
at Thunder Raceway by doing the Qualifying, Dash for Cash, and C-
Main for Friday's added show for the weekend event. Friday's show consist
of Qualifying Sprint Cars, running a 6 car dash for cash 6 laps, C Sprint
Main, and a full Pro - Stock and Mini Stock show.
The Sprint Car qualifying order, Dash for Cash, and C-Main will be added
to the Purse structure for the weekend. " The two day show programs have
been tough on Promoters on Friday's as far as the Bottom Line goes, so we have
come up with a format that may help the bottom line and pay out a little
more purse and not tear-up cars as much," say's Hal Burns from
the Southwest Sprint Car Series. Burns also stated that this will be the first
show that the new spec Goodyear A20 or A62 right rear tire will be required to
be used in the Main Event.
"The Goodyear tire has been tested to be very durable and competitive
compared to the the past Hoosier tires ran in the Series," stated
officials. Southwest officials also feel that the $125 selling price
and Point Fund contribution is well worth the spec tire change. The Goodyear
tire will be required to be used in the Main Events only through 2005, but
will be mandated as the only right rear spec tire in 2006 through an
entire event.
