August 12, 2005... The Competition Commitee from Hollywood Hills Casino announced yesterday that
they were taking over the management responsibilities for the Speedway
immediatily. Oliver Racing Promotions relinquished their bid to manage
the Speedway this week.
The new Speedway management and SCRL Officials agree, due to the timing of the
management change it would be the best interest of the SCRL Southwest Sprint
Car Series, and the new management team taking over the Speedway to
postpone this event to September 17th, 2005.
Hal Burns, the Southwest Sprint Car Series Race Director agreed," it
gives the Speedway more time to organize their schedule and game plan,
and gives me a little more time to recover from the mild heart attack I had on
July 28th".
Hal Burns suffered a mild heart attack in Santa Fe, New Mexico while doing a
special porch project for a family member on a warm Santa Fe day. Burns spent
four days in the hospital and has been diagnosed to have a good chance for a
near full recovery with the normal good things in life, like exercise, fat
free food, daily medication, and lack of stress! We think Burns will get
three out of four categories pretty easy, it's that last one in the racing
business that may be an issue!
