The seven cars traveling from Hawaii to
challenge the mainlanders will have their hands full at USA Race Park for
the Memorial Weekend Event. The roster will include sprint car heavy
weights such as, Charles Davis Jr., Ricky Hood Jr., Ricky Gaunt, Johnny
Herrera, Jason Tanner, Rick Ziehl, and Tucson, Arizona's Ron Clark
driving the Joe Morales number 94 sprinter.
Dennis krob winner of 2004 and Dean Freitas
winner of 2003 from Hawaii, are the leading contenders for victories and to
challenge the mainlanders. "All seven driver are very competitive drivers
in Hawaii, but now they are on a new track that that no one really has alot of
track time on, so this will be very enteresting to see who will win the big
one here on the mainland,"said Hal Burns the Southwest Race Director.
The Aloha Shoot-out at USA Race Park will be
the first time any of the Hawaiian drivers have raced at another race track
outside of Hawaii. Hawaii Motor Speedway in Hawaii is a 1/4 mile dirt track
that was built in the fifties and sixties, many military vets spending their
time in Hawaii may have visited this track and remember the red clay of
Hawaii!
