Special Event and new sanctioning body!
|
March 29, 2005...Southwest Sprint Car Series announces the formation of
the Sprint Car Racing League a dba of Hallett Enterprises LLC as the
administrative sanctioning manager for the series. The Southwest Sprint Car
Series will no longer have an association with USAC. The nonwing racing series
will continue to race with the same rules and car spec's, and continue to run a
engine rule that allows engines larger than a 360 to use an injector insert in
the stack to restrict the air flow on the larger engines. Hal Burns the
Southwest Sprint Car Series Race Director says, "the system works really
well, especially for those guys with 410's that didn't have the 360 motor and
wanted to run in our events". Burns also added that in a way it helps keep
the cost of Sprint Car racing down!
The Southwest Sprint car Series will have it's Inaugural SCRL event at The
Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, New Mexico on April 23rd, and then
race 45 minutes down the road on the next day the 24th at El Paso Raceway park
in El Paso Texas. Burns has scheduled events at USA Race Park including the
Roger McCluskey Classic on New Years Day 06, Thunder Raceway in Show Low,
Arizona, Barona Speedway in the San Deigo, California area, Hollywood Hills
Speedway near Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the famed Hawaii Classic at Hawaii
Motor Speedway in Honolulu, Hawaii Friday - Saturday of the Thanksgiving
weekend. Their may also be possible co-sanctioned events in California but the
car rules may be too far apart. Burns also added that he would like to run a few
more nonwing special annual events in the Southwest Region of the country.
"Anticipated car count for the Series seems to be developing quite well
based on my phone calls and inquiries from car owners and drivers," says
Burns. A regular Sprint Car show will pay $1500 to win and $225 to start the
feature, and the the Southwest Series will also have a Super Show purse which
pays $2500 to win and $325 to start the Feature. The 2 day Inaugural SCRL
Southwest Sprint Car Series event will include a $50 entry fee and will also
include the Super Show at El Paso Speedway Park on Sunday .
