(MAY 14, 2005 - Santa Maria, CA) ...Wild 106 FM/Bandit Sprint Cars, KKFX Fox 11 Street Stocks and CDCRA Dwarf Cars all saw action Saturday night at Santa Maria Speedway. *Greg Porte, of San Luis Obispo, set fast time and won the 30 lap Bandit main event to move into the point lead locally ahead of Jimmy Reeves who finished fourth ahead of Mike Baker. Bobby Elliott and Patrick Frisco were second and third. Santa Maria's Thad Bennett won his first career 8 lap heat race and Jason Mongomery took the other. *Street Stocks were finally able to have their season opener with Nipomo's Kenny Kirkpatrick picking up where he left off in 2004, with a victory in the 25 lap main event. The defending champion outpaced Elton Shaffer and Rick Wilkinson to pick up the win and the early point lead. Mike Corwin and Tim Randolph rounded out the top-five. Corwin and Kirkpatrick had 8 lap heat race victories as well. *CDCRA Dwarf Cars combined their Pro and Senior divisions to field a 20 car 20 lap main event. Pros Rob Anderson, Shawn Crawford and Bill Didion took the first three positions with Seniors Mike Van Acker and Dave Quigley placing fourth and fifth. Anderson, Van Acker and Ryan Blade came out on top in 8 lap heat race action. *Next Saturday night Century 21 Hometown Realty Late Model Stocks will see the 1/3-mile oval for the first time this season along with Automart Wholesale Mini Stocks and Crossroads Community Church Factory Stocks. Gates open at four, with qualifying at six and racing at seven. RACE SUMMARY Bandit Sprint Cars: Fast Time - Greg Porte.
