MAY 22, 2005...Russum Racing and 16-year-old driver
Patrick "Hot Rod" Russum of Citrus Heights, Ca. picked up a pair of
third place finishes over the weekend in his Eagle
chassis wingless 360 spec sprint car.
On Friday night, Russum ran with the Central States Racing
Association at Sacramento Raceway Park, finishing third in a reduced 20 lap
feature. The Mira Loma High School junior was trying to defend his win on
opening night.
Thanks to heavy rains, Sacramento's surface stayed heavy
all night providing for great sprint car racing. Saturday, Russum competed at
one of his favorite tracks, John Padjen Motorsports' Placerville Speedway, in
the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Russum finished third despite having his right-rear tire go flat.
"P-ville was much heavier to start out with, but
Sacramento stayed pretty consistent all night," Russum said. Russum's visit
to Placerville was a success compared to his visit a month ago, that resulted in
a hard crash.
Russum has seen great improvement in just his second season
racing the spec sprints.
"I'm very glad I got my first win earlier this year and from now on we are
focusing our efforts on keeping the car in one piece and being consistent with
our finishes, maintaining a top 5 regiment."
"I'm still learning, but we are definitely getting the
hang of it." Russum Racing would like to thank their sponsors Ejay's
Speedway Automotive, Rods R Us, BellFabrication and Welding, KC's 23 1/2 Hour
Plumbing, BHJ Products, and European Auto Body.
Their next race tentatively schedule is for Twin Cities
Speedway in Marysville, Ca. Russum is running the full CSRA circuit.
