(8/20/2005 Bakersfield, CA) Tonight will be round
3 in the VRA/Bandit Sprints Grand Slam at Bakersfield Speedway. After the
first two events the Awesome Aussie, Peter Murphy finds himself in the points
lead. Piloting the Tarlton & Sons Sharp Insurance/Elite Landscaping
#21 Maxim, Murphy has one runner up finish and one victory so far in the Grand
Slam. This will mark the Aussies second visit this year to the Speedway
and he is confident this time will have better results.
"We were out here for the USAC/CRA event earlier in the
year." said Murphy. "It was not a good evening. I think right
now we are the one's to beat in this Grand Slam. The guys have been
giving me great stuff and each time we pull in I am confident we have the car
to beat. There are a lot of good cars in this Grand Slam, it's a neat
deal they came up with for the racers and the fans. It'd be great to win
back to back in this Slam but if we can be in the top 5 we should keep our
points lead, no worries."
