PANKRATZ AND OSTLING RETURN TO THE PAS FOR THE   VALVOLINE USAC/CRA SPRINT CAR RACE ON SATURDAY!!!
by Scott Daloisio

(SEPTEMBER 28, 2005, PERRIS, CA)  Southern California open wheel veterans Wally Pankratz and Steve Ostling will be among the entries when Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply presents the Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint Cars at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night.

Pankratz will be back in one of John Jory’s cars as a teammate to series point leader Rip Williams.  Two weeks ago the crafty veteran, who had not driven a sprint car at The PAS in several years, was 11th fast qualifier with a 16:842.  That was not far off teammate Williams time (7th fast) of 16:803 or fast qualifier Rickie Gaunt’s 16:512.  In racing action on the night, the Orange, California resident missed the transfer spot in his heat race by one position and dropped out of the B main.

Last Saturday night Pankratz was second fast qualifier and finished eighth in the USAC Western Midget main event at the Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, California.

Corona, California’s Ostling will be driving Harlan Willis’ black #45 sprint car on Saturday and at the 10th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals at The PAS in November.  Ostling scored one of the biggest wins of his career in November of 2002 when he captured the Annual Jack Kindoll Classic at The PAS.  Willis’ has scored countless wins as a car owner at The PAS and his car dominated the action there in 2001 with 12 SCRA main event wins with Cory Kruseman behind the wheel.

Ostling’s last appearance at The PAS was on September 3rd when he finished 6th in the 50 lap main event driving the Buzz Shoemaker & Sons #0.

Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM on Saturday with qualifying approximately at 6:00.

Don’t forget, on Friday night, The Diamond Valley Automotive Group Honda – Mazda – Volkswagen Strip at The PAS street legal drag strip will be in action as well.  The cost to race on the drag strip is only $20.00 per competitor.  Gates open at 5:00 PM.

Perris Auto Speedway is conveniently located on the freeway close Lake Perris Fairgrounds, home of the Southern California Fair, approximately one hour east of Los Angeles. Take the 215 Freeway, exit at the Ramona Expressway and go east two and a half miles to the fairgrounds.
