(MARCH 21, 2005, PERRIS, CA) Perris Auto Speedway will hold it’s 10th
Anniversary Season race this Saturday when Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply
presents the USAC/CRA Valvoline Sprint Cars.
To celebrate the momentous occasion, all fans will be admitted for $5.00
and a couple of lucky fans will win 2005 season tickets to The PAS.
The PAS threw open it’s doors on March 30, 1996.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s current Busch Series driver J.J. Yeley won the first
ever race at the brand new facility. Most
of the hardcore fans that were attendance at that memorable event are still
coming to The PAS today. “We
wanted to do something to thank our loyal fans,” stated promoter Don Kazarian.
“So, we are rolling back the tickets to 1970s prices for Saturday and
we are also going to giveaway a couple season passes.”
The popular USAC/CRA series is returning to The PAS
for the third time this season. Thus
far it is shaping up to be extremely competitive year.
In the first six races of 2005, there have been five different winners.
Thus far, Concord, California’s Damion Gardner is the only two-time
winner. Both of his wins came at
The PAS when he dominated the competition to score convincing wins.
The Torrance, California due of Mike Kirby and
“Super Rickie” Gaunt are the most recent winners on the circuit.
Kirby won the 5th Annual Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply
Sokola Classic at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix last Saturday night.
The previous evening, Gaunt took his first checkered flag of the campaign
in the preliminary night main event.
Other drivers to score wins this season are Lincoln,
Indiana’s Dave Darland and Ventura, California’s Cory Kruseman.
Darland won the season opener at Manzanita in January while Kruseman
picked up his first win for car owner Glen Crossno at Bakersfield two weeks ago.
Heading in Saturday’s event Buckeye, Arizona’s
Charles Davis Jr. leads defending series champion Rip Williams (Yorba Linda, CA)
by two points in the chase for the 2005 title. Kirby is third with Gardner and Kruseman rounding out the top
five.
Once
again, all fans will be admitted for only $5.00 this Saturday night at Perris
Auto Speedway. Be sure to bring
some friends, neighbors, relatives and even a few people you do not like (just
have the latter sit far away from you) so they can witness Major League Sprint
Car Racing at the West Coast’s most modern dirt track.
The spectator gates will open one hour earlier than
normal on Saturday at 4:00 PM. Saturday’s
action packed program will consist of qualifying, the 3-lap Snap-on Tools Trophy
Dash for the four fastest qualifiers, heats, a 12-lap B-Main and 30-lap A-Main
event.
March
is “Relay for Life” month at The PAS. The
Riverside County Clay Oval has joined with the American Cancer Society to help
fight the dreaded disease. The PAS
hopes to raise more than $10,000.00 for the cause during the month.
Perris
Auto Speedway is conveniently located on the freeway close Lake Perris
Fairgrounds, home of the Southern California Fair, approximately one hour east
