SNAP-ON TOOLS AND THE PAS BRING BACK

(JANUARY 10, 2005, PERRIS, CA) Snap-on Tools and Perris Auto Speedway
have teamed to bring a long missing tradition back to sprint car racing in
Southern California. Starting with the 10th Anniversary Season Opener on
Saturday, February 5th and continuing at every Valvoline USAC/CRA race
throughout the 2005 campaign, the four fastest qualifiers will contest the
Snap-on Tools 3-Lap Trophy Dash. “When we switched to the USAC/CRA sanction last year, we went back to a more traditional format,” stated Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian. “It was the format that worked in CRA for years and the reaction we got from the fans was fantastic.” However, there was one important element missing from the old CRA format and that was a trophy dash. The PAS did stage two special trophy dashes in 2004. One was on the Legends of Ascot Night and the other at the Jack Kindoll Classic in November. “The fan response to the two trophy dashes was incredible. They loved them,” Kazarian said. “They (the fans) asked us to bring the trophy dash back on a regular basis in 2005 and we are going to do that. Just like the days when Dean Thompson, Jimmy Oskie, Bubby Jones and Rip Williams would start off the night of racing with a 3-lap dash 20 years ago at Ascot, we are going to do that again. Heck, Rip will be one of the players in 2005. I am sure of that.” Snap-on Tools will be the presenting sponsor for the Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint Car Trophy Dashes at The PAS in 2005. “Snap-on Tools became a track sponsor at The PAS last season and they are a great company to work with. They have taken on a bigger sponsorship roll for 2005 and that includes the Snap-on Tools Trophy Dash,” Kazarian said. “In 2004 we had some nights when a bunch of their salesmen brought their trucks to The PAS so fans could shop for tools before the races and that worked out very well. The following Saturday, February 12th, the PASSCAR Super Stocks, Ramona Tire Street Stocks, RWD Extreme Trucks & SUV’s, CarQuest Hornets and the Pick-A-Part Cruisers will open their 2005 campaign.
