California
Modified (sprint car) Association ran one of it final dirt point races this
evening at Chowchilla Speedway. More
than twenty 360 two barrel sprints made the tow to Chowchilla to compete in
racing tonight. Folsom’s Jerry
Kobza claimed the victory. Michael Zarevich from
Manteca
and
Napa
’s David Goodwill brought the pack around to the green.
Goodwill grabbed the lead and held it for twenty three laps.
Kobza, Rob Hammond, and Steve Pemberton made it around Goodwill in those
last few laps. It appeared that
Goodwill was having problems.
Hammond
came from mid pack and claimed second after winning his heat and coming in
second in the Trophy Dash. Pemberton
who had won the “B” Main went flying
on the high side from the back to an impressive third place finish.
Goodwill did hold on for fourth and after racing was over it was found
that his rear had gone out. Gary
Koster rounded out the top five after winning the Trophy Dash and his heat race.
