August
6, 2005 - Tracy, CA...NCMA
Sprint Cars made their final appearance at Altamont Raceway & Arena this
evening in their individual class. They
still have several combined races with CASA coming up, but they made an
outstanding showing this evening. John
Silva who resides in
Tracy
gave hometown fans something to cheer about.
Jeff Burrows and Rookie, Denny Burell brought the sprints around for the
25 lap main event. Michael
Zarevich, who won his very first Trophy Dash tonight and Silva came right in
behind them and Pat Ariaz were the top five starters.
After taking the green, Silva jumped right to the front to lead the
entire race. A third of the way
into the event, the lineup was set for the finish as Ariaz, asphalt points
leader, pulled into second. Don
Hicks who ended his last race at
Altamont
going out in flames after his crank broke, moved into third.
The top three were just cruising to the checkered.
Burrows in his first full season with NCMA, finished fourth, and Rob
Hammond who makes the tow from
Morgan Hill
was fifth. Special notes: the top
four motors were built by Don Hicks. Also
Ed Amador, Promoter for NCMA and a great competitor, had new car gremlins after
working for the last two weeks to race this evening.
As
previously stated Michael Zarevich won his first Trophy Dash tonight.
Denny Burell, Ripon, in only his second asphalt appearance, pulled the
pole position.
Manteca
’s Zarevich was right beside him, Silva and Ariaz rounded it out.
Silva and Ariaz were working it hard.
Silva apparently ran over Burell’s rear tire, broke his Jacob’s
ladder giving him a wild ride from there on in.
He ended up second with Ariaz right there with him.
Burell rounding it out in fourth.
There
were no heat races and the evening was set up on fast time which was Ariaz.
Ariaz continues the point’s lead with only a few remain races left for
the season.
Special
Thank you to DMSI (Design Mobile Systems Inc.) of Patterson and owner David
Smith who has shared his interest in racing with the NCMA asphalt division by
contributing to the winnings of the top three of each
Altamont
race this season.
