CA...The
NCMA Select Series invaded
Chico
’s Silver Dollar Speedway with 360/2 barrel non-wing sprints. Herman Klein
piloted Rick Eversult’s Sprinter to the win.
Eversult seems to have a knack for picking a winner as he continues
recovering from an incident earlier in the season.
Thirty racers from several different clubs made drivers compete in a
“B” Main to get to the Main Event! This was the Sprint Car Fans’ Dream,
combining a great car count and a very fast track.
Three qualifying heats were run to set up the first group of starters for
the Main event. The top five
finishers from each heat were transferred to the Feature leaving the five
remaining to run the “B”. NCMA’s
Rob Hammond took the honors with Nathan Johnson, Ralph Cortez, Joshua Tucker,
and Charlie Mars all going to the
Main
. As the Main Event started, Kenny
Bair and Justin Funkhouser brought them around to the green. It
was very few laps and Herman Klein had worked his way from a fifth place start
to the lead. Klein had the map to
this track and took the checkered for the fifth NCMA Select Series.
Bob Newberry took second place honors, with Ralph Cortez (starting
eighteenth) finishing third, Doug Emery, fourth, and Jay Youngman rounding out
the top five.
The
NCMA Select Series will compete August 13th at Reno-Fernley Raceway.
