June
11, 2005 - Tracy, CA...Asphalt
Points leader Pat Ariaz put another win in his pocket tonight as he not only
raced the Altamont Half Mile but with the fuel injected 360 sprints of CASA.
NCMA had their second of four ‘race within a race’ series.
The concept of this is very interesting but makes a tough run for both
groups. Tonight it was especially
good as everyone did well with no specific race incidents only a couple of spin
outs and every one went home in one piece. Nothing better than the thunder of
twenty open wheel cars on the track.
Rob
Hammond from
Morgan Hill
set fast time with
Manteca
’s Michael Zarevich right behind him. Ariaz was third quick.
Burt Siverling started on the pole of the heat race and ended right
there.
Tracy
’s John Silva made his first outing of the season and ended second in the
heat. Jeff Burrows also from
Manteca
was third.
Modesto
’s Ed Amador won the Trophy Dash. Ariaz,
Burrows and Zarevich rounded it out.
The
main event started with Zarevich and Ariaz bring them to the green.
Amador and Burrows behind them. Ariaz
took the lead and just kept going. Ariaz
said afterwards he didn’t know if he was ahead or behind because of the CASA
sprints but was glad he came out on top. Burrows
finished second after sitting out a week and Zarevich was third.
Manteca
made a showing tonight!
Hammond
finished fourth and Siverling of Concord running third in the asphalt points
finished fifth. Ed Amador had a DNF
after suffering a bad vibration.
NCMA
Select Series will have a double header June 17 and 18. Starting at Silver
Dollar Speedway,
Chico
, Friday night and Twin Cities Speedway Saturday night.
Should be some great Saturday night dirt track racing
