April 1, 2005 - With
the onset of her debut race April 2nd, Helberg Motorsports’ 17 year old
Jessica Helberg sat down and shared her career goals and season plans for 2005.
This
Saturday, April 2nd, Jessica Helberg of Helberg Motorsports will make her season
debut at Altamont Raceway and Arena in the beautiful burgundy car number 4, a
700+ hp wingless Asphalt Sprint Car competing in the California Asphalt
Sprint Car Association (CASA) series season.
Altamont
will offer Helberg her first opportunity to
compete alongside other CASA drivers in the chance to win a 50-lap
feature main event on its 'fastest half-mile in the west' oval.
Helberg plans to aggressively compete for “Rookie of the Year” this
first year by attending all 17 CASA series events to be held in 2005.
The
Helberg Motorsports team conducted testing and practice during the
off-season and are confident that both the car and Jessica will
perform exceptionally well as she showcases her talent Saturday night under the
lights at Altamont.
After
a successful four year run in dirt Outlaw Sprint Karts her team
decided to propel her professional driving career forward by acquiring a
remarkably built Consani Racing Sprint Car.
Shortly after her switch from dirt to asphalt Jessica shared, "My
goal is to become a professional race driver and by competing in both a faster
and more challenging series, I'll be among some of the best drivers in the
country and will definitely learn more that way.”
Young Jessica will be one of very few female Asphalt
Sprint Car drivers in the series and is expected to be competitive
despite her short time in the division.
2005
will see the Helberg Motorsports team travel all over.
In addition to the lightning-fast, half-mile Altamont Raceway &
Arena, they will also compete at the high-banks of Ukiah Speedway, the
ultra-fast quarter-mile bullring of Champion Speedway in
Carson
City
,
Nevada
and at Madera Speedway’s paved third-mile oval track. About mid-season,
Helberg Motorsports plans to take their annual trip to
Knoxville
,
Iowa
to compete with the countries very best during the Knoxville Nationals.
Sponsors,
and motorsports fans are invited to see it live at Altamont Raceway and
Arena, but if you can't make the green flag this weekend, you can catch
Jessica on the new “Altamont Speed Week” weekly television show on Comcast
SportsNet West. There you will see
Altamont
racing action every Sunday morning at 9:30 am and
replays several times a week. For more information on viewing schedule vist: http://west.comcastsportsnet.com/channels.asp
