Wingless Sprints

August 3, 2005...The Central State Racing Association's Wingless Sprints
will be racing this friday August 5 at Sacramento Raceway Park. This will be the
tenth race of the exciting season, and the battle for the championship remains
tight. Entering into this weekend as point leader is Citrus Heights' Patrick
"Hot Rod" Russum. Chico's Don Emery and Elk Grove's Scott Pierson are
currently tied for the second spot. Defending Champion Billy Garcia of Sheldon,
Folsom's Jerry Kobza, and Larry Nelson of Jackson are all close in the point
chase.
There have been six separate feature winners in nine season point races. Red
Line Oil's Jerry Kobza with a win last week at Chowchilla Speedway tops the win
tally with three feature victories. Patrick Russum driving his father Vic
Russum's Rods R Us sprinter has two wins at Sacramento Raceway. The teams
welcome new driver Richard Crumley from Roseville who will be racing his
first race at Sacramento this season. With the talented roster of veterans and
rookies alike it's a new and exciting race every week!
The CSRA teams will be keeping club Secretary/Treasurer/Pointskeeper Diane
Basden in their thoughts and prayers and will miss her presence as she
recuperates from this week's surgery.
Sacramento Raceway Park's quarter mile oval track is located on Excelsior Drive
in Sacramento. Admission is $10.00 for adults, kids 12 and under are free,
racing starts at 8pm, and will alos feature a 50-50 raffle. For more information
