APRIL 25, 2005...The Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint Car
Series returns to Perris
(Calif.) Auto Speedway this Saturday night and another 30-lap main event caps
the program of racing on the 1/2-mile dirt oval.
Defending series titlist Rip Williams of Yorba Linda, Calif. has a 30-point lead
over Charles Davis, Jr. entering Saturday night's competition as he seeks his
101st career Sprint car feature triumph.
Williams, third-ranking Mike Kirby and fourth-ranking Damion Gardner have been a
formidable trifecta at Perris since the USAC/CRA Series debuted last year. They
finished 1-2-3 five times there in 2004 and twice in five events this year.
Cory
Kruseman, who ranks fifth in the standings, could be the spoiler though, coming
off a USAC Western Midget win last Saturday at Ventura Raceway. In nine 2004
Perris starts, Kruseman had one win, four seconds and two thirds. He also has
one win there this year.
