March 15, 2005 - With
the Valvoline USAC/CRA series only four races old, the next chapter begins in
Phoenix, Arizona on March 18/19 at Manzanita Speedway with the 5th
annual Sokola Classic.
Damion Gardner is
pressing for the points lead, only five behind leader Charles Davis Jr, after
two wins and a second place finish the last three races.
Cory Kruseman’s
first win this season sets the stage for the battle in the desert this
weekend.
Mike Kirby, the
former leader, until motor problems sent him to the pits early last Saturday at
Bakersfield, is ready to reclaim the lead at a place he loves to race.
Super Rickie Gaunt
is looking for his first win this year with the club.
Defending
champion, Rip Williams, is gunning for his 100th sprint car win and
it may happen this weekend as Bill Rose And Dave Darland join the fray from the
Indiana USAC scene.
Local drivers
Jeremy Sherman and Bob Ream Jr will challenge the strong field as some 40 racers
are expected to run for the $5000 to win feature in Saturday night..
