March
1, 2005…San Jose, CA.
Virtual Thunder, an online racing game that follows live racing events, will
again team up with the California Asphalt Sprintcar Association series to
provide extra competition off the track. Virtual Thunder allows fans, teams and
drivers to get involved with the live events by making qualifying and race
finish order predictions and get scored against the official results.
Involvement with the CASA series will bring the game to a new level by giving
the actual team’s direct involvement with the game.
A special CASA area will be set up online at Virtual
Thunder to allows drivers, teams, fans and all their family and friends to
compete all season long with the action on the track. Teams competing at Virtual
Thunder this season will be eligible to win end-of-season awards and prizes,
which will be announced as the details are made available.
Registration for Virtual Thunder is free and it includes
unlimited play all season long. Playing
the game is really simple, just login and make picks for all the events you want
to play along with. Players are awarded "PLACE" points for exact
matches or "SHOW" points for correct, but not exact, matches and bonus
points are awarded based on good grouping. Players compete over single events,
entire venues, all season in the standings and can even create exclusive
"Pit Crew" or smaller groups of players that compete against each
other and together against other Pit Crews.
The 2005 racing season is the 6th season of Virtual Thunder
and the competition continues to get better and grow. The game began in the 2000 season and just followed the
NASCAR Cup, Busch and Truck series and today it has grown to follow over 260
different series and local racing at over 200 speedways. The CASA series was
originally added to Virtual Thunder during the 2003 season by player request and
the series continues to draw more players.
