(October 21, 2005) It won’t be trick-or-treat in Pahrump, NV on
Halloween weekend, just a treat, as SCRA’s sprint cars invade the small
gambling community for its first annual National non-winged 360 event.
There won’t be any gremlins or goblin’s, just fire-breathing,
methanol-burning, 750 horsepower open-wheel sprint cars.
The drivers won’t be wearing scary costumes either, just
their fire-protective racing suits and helmets as they thunder around the
1/3-mile clay track in hopes of getting a bite of the substantial purse.
Heading the list of characters is season’s point’s
leader Steven Williams, who will be gunning for the first-ever SCRA 360 crown.
The Madera, CA resident has captured three feature events, four heat
races and two Trophy Dashes so far this season, and holds a slim 37-point
advantage over Chad Boespflug. Boespflug has not only matched Williams’ count in feature
and heat race wins, the teenage sensation from Hanford, CA has also countered
with four Dash wins.
Close on the heals of Williams and Boespflug are Danny
Olmstead (605), Chris D’Arcy (526), and Richard Harvey Jr. (525).
This trio may be out of the loop as far as the overall championship is
concerned, but they are looking closely at the year-end $$$ points-fund in
addition to the big pay-day at the Nationals.
Others expected to contend are Jim Richardson, Jonathon
Logan, and Aaron Chaney, along with other stars from the states of Nevada,
Oregon and Washington.
For information regarding entry applications for the
two-day extravaganza, and/or other details, call SCRA Race Director Richard
Harvey at 559/582-8816 or e-mail him at stingerchassis@earthlink.net.
