HAYS ADDS TO LADY SUCCESS WITH VEGAS

OCTOBER 18, 2004...Destiny Hays of Oroville, Calif. continued the
spectacular 2004 success of lady drivers in USAC racing Saturday night, winning
the 40-lap "Orleans Hotel & Casino Sprint & Midget Nationals"
Valvoline Western Sprint Car feature at The Bullring @ Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor
Speedway. Hays caught early leader Tim Barber on lap 21 and led the rest of the way in her Hays Racing Beast/Chevy to beat Robert Beck, Michael Trimble, Brian McClish and Jim Waters. The win was Hays' first in USAC competition and she became the fifth female driver to win a USAC feature event this year, the first in USAC's Western Sprint Car Series. Tony Hunt, who finished sixth, snatched the series point lead from defending champion Michael Lewis, as Lewis encountered mechanical problems and failed to finish the 40-lap race. Hunt leads Lewis by 21 points going into the "Old Pueblo Classic" at Tucson, Ariz. Nov. 20.
