APRIL 19, 2004...Michael Lewis of Noblesville, Ind. is the defending
champion of the USAC Western Sprint Car Series, which kicks off its 2004
calendar of events as part of a "doubleheader' program this Saturday at the

Lewis currently leads the USAC Western Midget Car standings after winning the
April 10 "Fred Gerhardt Open Wheel Classic" at the 1/3-mile paved
Madera oval.
Saturday's racing program, which also features the USAC California Ford Focus
North Midget Car Series, will conclude with a 25-lap Ford Focus and 40-lap
Sprint Car feature.

was the first by a female in the series history!
Lewis won six USAC Western Sprint Car features on his way to the 2004 title and
co-"Rookie of the Year" honors. In three Madera starts in 2004 his
