(Oxnard, CA., September 1, 2004) Ventura Raceway is proud to host a
very special program this Saturday night September 4. On that night the USAC/CRA
410 Sprint Cars will return to race with USAC Ford Focus Midgets on Ventura
Raceway’s 1/5 mile Ventura Raceway clay, banked, bullring to stage a night of
racing that those in attendance will long remember. The event will begin at 5pm
at Ventura Raceway’s Seaside Park facility at the Ventura County Fairgrounds
with qualifying of the 410 Sprint Cars. These are the fastest cars that race at
Ventura Raceway, hitting speeds in excess of 80 mph on the short straights.
This is the next to last appearance of the USAC/CRA Sprinters at Ventura this
year. In their earlier visits they have thrilled the crowd with some of the best
high speed short track racing to be seen anywhere. Saturday night Damion
Gardner, winner last week at Perris Auto Speedway will resume his season long
battle with point leader Rip Williams, who won the last CRA race at Ventura.
These two drivers have battled all season long to see who will become the first
USAC/CRA 410 Champion. All the other top 410 drivers will be here Saturday night
to try to make their moves up the point’s ladder. Among these drivers
scheduled to appear are Mike Kirby, Troy Rutherford, Greg Bragg and Tony Jones.
The USAC Ford Focus Series makes its third appearance at Ventura Saturday night.
This series is designed to give up and coming drivers a chance to race and
develop their skills before they move up to the Midget series. Point leader
Chris Rahe, Bradly Galedrige, Chase Barber, Bobby Michnowicz and Josh Laktos
will lead the field to Ventura for this exciting night of racing.
Ventura Raceway will open the front gates for this event at 4:00pm Saturday
afternoon. Cars will be going on the track in warm-up sessions at 4:00pm with
midget qualifying to follow at 5:00pm. Racing is scheduled to get under way at
5:30pm. Admission for this event is $18.00 for adults, $15.00 for
seniors/military, $8.00 for juniors with a school photo id and kids 12 and under
are FREE.
