BINDER LEADS SOUTHWEST SPRINTS TO
NEVADA
|
(MAY 24, 2004) USAC's Southwest Sprint Car Series resumes action this
Saturday night as USAC returns to the Silver State for the first time in two
years. Reno-Fernley Raceway, located about 30 miles east of Reno, hosts the
series on its 3/8-mile dirt track, with a 40-lap feature on tap following
complete prelims.
Beau Binder of El Paso, Texas, leads the series standings after winning the
opener at El Centro, Calif. in March. He recorded his initial series victory
last year at Aztec, N.M. on his way to fifth in the 2003 series standings.
Binder's is virtually tied with defending series champion Rick Ziehl for the
point lead going into Saturday night's racing program. USAC's last appearance in
Nevada was in 2002 when Tony Stewart "swept" a Sprint/Midget
"doubleheader" at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
