Marysville
CA. Negotiations have been finalized and Tipton Motorsports
LLC and the management of Valley Pump of Yuba City have come to an agreement on
sponsorship for the 1st Annual Labor Day Classic. The event will be
held on Saturday night September 4th 2004.
The new title will be the 1st Annual Valley
Pump Labor Day Classic. The event will feature the non-wing Speedway Sprint
Cars, the TCS Stock Car Series and the TCS Mini Stocks in the three-division
special. All division participants will have to conform to TCS rules.
Promoter Clyde Tipton has stipulated that every dollar
provided by Valley Pump will be added to the purse and divided among the
participants.
The format will be unique however as three Valley Pump
Shootouts for trophies and cash will determine the top starters in each of
the main events.
All preliminary heat race
events will be lined straight-up based on qualifying times or pill draw. The
winner of heat race #1 will start on the pole of the appropriate Valley Pump
Shootout. The winner of heat race #2 will start outside in row 1 and so
forth on down the line. The winner of the shootout will secure the pole position
for the main event. This format will reward the fastest cars and drivers. Every
pass will mean positions gained in the races.
This “King of the
Hill” format will be unique in northern California as most starting
line-ups are decided by arbitrary pill draws or full field inversions after the
preliminary races are concluded.
Some 60 Speedway
Sprint Cars from all over the west are expected to test the fast ¼ mile.
The TCS Stock Car rules have been opened up considerably this year and a
full field of cars and stars from California, Oregon and Nevada will make the
trip.
More information on this great inaugural event will be
forthcoming.
The new TCS Stock Car Series, Speedway Sprint Cars, Pacific
Sprint Cars and the TCS Mini Stock series will open at TCS on April 3rd.
Gates open at 5 with racing at 7.
