JOSH WISE OUT FOR A FRIDAY NIGHT CRUISE AT
LAKESIDE SPEEDWAY |
| KANSAS CITY, KS, AUGUST 20, 2004 - Race #13 of the 2004
SCRA season found the travelers at the friendly Lakeside Speedway
for a program, with thirty-one cars signed in and a nice Friday
night crowd under ideal weather conditions. Josh Wise, at the
controls of Keith Kunz's Snyder Enterprises/Bullet Chassis Special,
bided his time early as Tony Elliott jumped into the early lead,
before Jesse Hockett came flying around the top and took the point
on the third lap and appeared to be checking out with nearly a
straightaway lead. About midway, Wise moved around Elliott and closed quickly on Hockett, whose racer was running tight, while Wise was enjoying a perfectly handling machine. On lap 13, Josh grabbed the lead and came home for the checkers. Wise becomes the sixth different winner on the NAPA AUTO PARTS/AUTO TRADER MAGAZINE NON WING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR. This was sprint car victory #4 for Josh, since relocating from California to the Mid-West to run the national Midget and Sprint series. Wise stated that his crew gave him a good car and hopes to be in the mix again tomorrow night, vying for the $10,000.00 first place money. Josh complimented the track preparation staff on their efforts and would like to see a similar track for tomorrow's race. Rickie Gaunt set fast time at 17.070, followed by Kevin Briscoe and Tony Elliott. Many qualifiers set some fast circuits, but none approached the standing track record held by Damion Gardner. The Friday show was nearly accident free as there were no serious altercations and damage was held to a minimum. For tomorrow's program, several entries are expected to come into town after other series commitments this evening. Saturday will wrap up the 2004 edition of the NWWC Midwest Tour swing with the 40 lap, $10,000,00 to win feature.
