LAKEWOOD, CA., APRIL 19 -- Round two of the
NAPA Auto Parts / Auto Trader
Magazines Sprint Car Racing Association (SCRA) series will be held
this Saturday night, April 24th, at the Thunderbowl Raceway in
Tulare.
Rain forced the cancellation of last Saturday's race at Barona
Speedway Park. As a result, Thunderbowl Raceway will now host the
first two events on the 2004 schedule. Cory Kruseman, Ventura,
won the season opener on April 4th driving for the Alexander Bros.
Damion Gardner, Concord, finished second and leads the SCRA points
standing heading into this weekend.
Arizona sprint car champion Charles Davis, Jr. (Buckeye, AZ) sits
third in series points after setting the fastest time
qualifying and finishing sixth in the main event. Davis'
teammate Rickie Gaunt, Torrance, finished third at Tulare and is
also third in series points.
Steve Ostling, Corona, is expected to be at Tulare and behind the
wheel of the famed Harlan Willis sprinter. Willis captured the
2001 SCRA Owners' crown with Kruseman as his driver.
During the evening, the Pruett Group will sponsor the "For
Teens Foundation, Young Gun Shootout". This special race
is open for drivers age 16 to 20. The "For Teens"
Foundation provides help for teens and the parents of teens who are
having difficulty with the varied challenges facing today's teens.
