(MAY 24, 2004) Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series point leader Rip
Williams
of Yorba Linda, Calif. led the final 15 laps to win Saturday night's 30-lap
feature at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway. He hopes to maintain his series lead in
this Saturday night's "Salute to Indy" program at Perris (Calif.) Auto
Speedway.
Williams enters the Perris race with a 44-point lead over Damion Gardner and
Mike Kirby. A big 50-lap feature tops the Perris program. Trailing Williams and
his John Jory Corporation/Weld Wheels Stinger Shaver were Steve Ostling, Danny
Sheridan, Gardner and Jordan Hermansader, who led the first 15 laps.
Gary W. Howard was Saturday night's fastest qualifier.
