The Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series visits Kings Speedway
in Hanford, Calif. this Saturday night, with a 30-lap feature event scheduled on
the 3/8-mile dirt oval.
The race is the first for the new series at the historic Hanford oval and
should shake up the current standings after the first three races, which sported
three different winners. Mike Kirby, Dave Darland and Cory Kruseman are the race
winners so far, but Damion Gardner of Concord, Calif. resides second in the
standings, just 20 back of Kruseman going into Saturday's program.
Rip Williams of Yorba Linda, Calif., still seeking his first series championship
despite numerous career Sprint car wins, is third in the points, 37 back of
Kruseman, with 74 points available at Hanford.
Kirby won the last CRA Sprint Car title in 1993 and kicked off the new series
with a victory at Perris, Calif. March 6.
Saturday's race will be the first for USAC Sprint cars at Kings Speedway since
1998.
