My name is Peter Curto and I have been hired by Dave Swindell to be the Bandit
series Race Director for the 2004 season. I am looking forward to working to
improve the show and facilitate a smooth well run show at Santa Maria in
particular.
It is the goal of Dave Swindell and Larry Ulam, promoters of the tracks to run
the very best program with the best and most versatile drivers in open wheel
racing. We will have the regular cast of stars, some new faces and some winged
stars strutting their stuff on the non-wing circuit.
Safety and general tech inspections will be the beginning of the night and we
will have our own staff to inspect the race cars without any bias or any
surprises. Every owner/driver will be kept in the loop and we look to grow
this series in 2004.
Santa Maria is the finest surface in the state and the sprint cars from VRA,
Rebel Series and the Golden State Series and even those ASCS will be treated
with courtesy and respect. They are all cordially invited to race with
the Bandit Series when their schedules allow and enjoy some time on the coast.
It will be nice to get back to their roots and have a great time and enjoy a
cold one after the races with fellow drivers.
The Bandit Series sports the friendliest group of racers in the nation! They
race hard but should you break they are all racers who will jump in to get
their competitors into action. That is the way racing once was and still is
with the Bandit Series.
I have been working with Santa Maria's officials and safety crew to markedly
improve their roles, to get up to the standards of Kings Speedway and the VRA
which are both great groups and well organized. I have already learned a great
deal from observing and helping with the 2 day show at Kings Speedway in
October. I personally will do my best to improve the parts of the program that
need the most attention.
Simple is not only better but less hassle for every body. I am for racers
having fun, the fans seeing a great show and everybody looking forward to the
next race.
Please share this with the fine patrons of SCRAFAN.COM and I can be reached at
pcurto@impulse.net I would
appreciate any help or input from the owners and drivers, fans and family
members. I love open wheeled dirt track racing with a passion and am a fan
first and foremost and have a racers heart. I look forward to the job even
though it scares the hell out of me too.
Thank you all,
Peter Curto, Bandit Series Director
