Lightning Sprints |
|
The California
Lightning Sprint Cars are scaled down versions of winged
sprint cars, like the World of Outlaws. While 410 C.I. engines power the Outlaws, the Lightning Sprints are chain driven,
motorcycle engine racecars. This traveling series races at
Perris, Bakersfield, Barona, and other venues.

The lightning sprints are one of the fastest races today in terms of car-to-track ratios. The relatively small dirt and
clay oval tracks (1/4 - 1/2 mile) and high speeds (in excess of 100 mph!) make for easy-to-view, action-packed,
high-intensity racing for everyone. Drivers must possess extraordinary reflexes, coordination, stamina and just plain
guts along with an intimate knowledge of their vehicle, the track and it's conditions as well as a keen racing sense just
to stay in the race... and the farther from the front you are, the bigger your helping of exhaust and dirt.
|
Powered by converted motorcycle engines (up to 1200cc) running either methanol-alcohol or racing fuel, you can't get
these machines from your local bike dealer! Each vehicle has been painstakingly crafted by it's team from top to
bottom. All car specs must fall within strict CLS guidelines, so it's the little things that count; a few pounds of tire or
spring pressure can make a big difference. Countless hours (not to mention dollars) are spent building, tuning,
refining and maintaining each car to insure top-performance at race time.
|
Above all else, these teams share a brotherhood passion for racing - and you know how competitive brothers can be!
Put 20 of these racers out on the track and tell 'em only one can win- It makes for a exhibition you won't soon forget!
